Contact with Primary Schools

To ensure that pupils transfer successfully from Primary to Secondary it is important to work effectively with them. We meet regularly to discuss co-working and will visit Primary Schools more than once during the year.

During the Autumn Term we invite Year 5 and 6 pupils to the School to take part in various tasks within subject workshops. Further to this we will be holding an Open Evening in November, where Year 5, 6 and 7 pupils will be invited to discuss with staff and see the school.

In the Summer Term year 6 pupils who are transferring spend three days at school, where they will be placed within their registration classes and be introduced to their class tutor, but also have a taste of a number of subjects and find their way around the school. We will also arrange meetings with parents in the Summer Term as a means of sharing information and giving parents and pupils the opportunity to ask questions and raise any concerns.
